Maria Delago must have had an excellent eye. For the figures she designed for the manufactory between 1954 and 1956 embody precisely that exciting moment which unifies the movement and inner calm of a person. A Mongolian woman in traditional dress is arranging her hair. At first this does not seem particularly worthy of note. However, the observer witnesses a private moment – without disturbing it. It makes the 21-centimetre-tall exotic woman by the down-to-earth South Tyrolian artist as authentic as she is attractive.
